it seems that i'm updating this site more and more randomly.
oh well, it happens.
anyhow; to the point. mike (hell) came out to visit lara and myself for
a few days, which in itself was pretty cool, to top that off though we
got to see the international noise conspiracy with the hives (who by the
way are your new favourite band) as well as a rodchenko exhibit.
mike flew out on friday, december the 6th and dave (marchuck) and myself
picked him up at the airport. mike had a few good stories about drunken
people on calgary transit (which is quite common due to the fact that
calgary cops don't like drunk drivers at all - go figure). at some point
we saw the rodchenko exhibit at the local art gallery/museum. it wasn't
bad but i think it showed a lot more of his process and works in progress
rather than finished work; which in itself is kind of interesting. saturday
was the show, dave was supposed to come along to the show with lara mike
and i due to stomach illness however he didn't make it. i ended up selling
dave's ticket to a girl waiting outside ($10 - a pretty good deal). she
offered to but me a drink if she saw me inside, which she did, but seeing
as i don't drink she didn't buy me one.
it's funny the reaction you get from people when you tell them that you
don't drink. most of them tell you "that's cool" but look at
you as if if you have a giant hole in your skull. i think it's pretty
cool.
the show itself was pretty cool all three bands that played that night
had matching outfits (the smugglers, a local group, was the third band).
the hives played first and started everything off on a pretty good foot.
the lead singer proclaimed things like "you love us and we love you
right back." and, "we are your new favourite band". he
also did a lot of mick jagger-esque poses and a lot of mic tricks. not
as many mic tricks however, as the lead singer of the (international)
noise conspiracy.
after the show mike and i headed over to a house warming party at my friend
rob's apartment. rob is the service manager at the bike shop that i work
at. Mike and i played quite a lot of x-box while we were there, halo was
the game.
sunday was rather un-exciting, mike and i walked around and took some
shots of the quay, some graffiti and a sliced up korean ship. later that
night we went swimming at lara's mothers place and then we drove mike
to the airport.
so that's most of the excitement for december
i've also been snowboarding a few times in the last few days up at mount
seymour. my snowboarding is beginning to come back to it's previous levels
(i've even been hitting rails). it funny how you improve when you actually
get the chance to ride.
lastly i've also begun putting parts on my bmx, hopefully i'll be done
before the first weekend in january.
